Make Your Book

MAKE YOUR BOOK IN FOUR STEPS

1. Learn more

1 hour free consultation.

2. Record the interviews

I conduct a series of interviews, typically ranging from three to five one- to two-hour sessions. You start assembling photos and other memorabilia during the interview phase.

3. Prepare the written document

A written transcript is prepared from the recorded interviews. From the transcript I create a narrative that flows smoothly from one part of your life to the next. We review the manuscript together, making corrections and additions as needed. I can also develop historical or other content to help bring your story to life.

4. Make the book

I collaborate with a book designer who will create your personal history book with the colors, images and design you prefer. You will receive a bound “proof” to review so you can make decisions about the content and appearance of your book. Multiple copies, in soft or hard cover, can be printed for a family reunion or other occasion.

If time or budget is an issue, you may choose to create a shorter legacy letter or special occasion booklet. A book focused on one part of your life or a specific experience, such as a career journey, an adoption, or an immigrant journey, is also an option. Let’s talk!

“Carla was amazingly sensitive and insightful as she guided me through my legacy letter to my grandson. She prompted me with meaningful questions and helped me to the finish line. Her editing was spot on. The final product was very artfully designed with pictures and graphics. I recommend her services to anyone wishing to leave a meaningful legacy to family and friends.”
